This 4-piece set is a complete core kit for most kitchens. It gives you reliable coverage for daily cooking with tools that feel consistent in hand—same steel, same heat treatment, same balance and finish—so prep is smooth and predictable without overcomplicating your lineup.
Each Hezhen blade in this series uses a tri-layer construction: two outer layers of SuS410 stainless Damascus clad over a single inner core of 10Cr15CoMoV (VG10-equivalent). This combines a keen, long-lasting edge at the core with stainless protection and visual depth on the outside.
Heat Treatment: Our knives undergo a Vacuum Deep-Cooling Heat Treatment process. This advanced technique refines the steel’s grain and locks in the target hardness of HRC 60±1, so the blades take a crisp 15° edge, hold it longer, and maintain toughness to resist chipping in everyday use.
The three-layer hammered composite steel, after heat treatment, presents a blade that is retro-frosted with a black texture through stonewashing, adding character without compromising performance.
The handles pair Black Buffalo Horn ferrules with rich Red Wood, echoing each blade’s transition from bright edge to patterned steel for a cohesive, premium look. The ergonomic, Japanese octagonal-inspired shape promotes long-term comfort and confident control across the set.
Why this set: It’s a practical, high-value base that covers most cooking needs. Start here; add specialized knives later (for example, vegetable or slicing knives) to fine-tune your kit while keeping the same look and feel.
